Register, Ride and Log

The signature challenge of May is Bike Month is to:

  1. Pledge to bike to your destinations as often as possible
  2. Log your miles and trips
  3. Track your status

Better yet, team up with classmates, coworkers, family or friends to engage collectively. You can earn e-badges, prizes, and of course, bragging rights. It's the perfect excuse to bike your city and get in some good exercise. To sign up and get riding, check out

Map Your Bike Quest

A great resource for finding your way in May is the newly updated and redesigned North Natomas Bike Map. It's useful for identifying which routes are busy and direct or relaxed and winding. It also points out landmarks such as schools, shopping centers, and even public art. If your bike needs a little TLC, the map can guide you to any one of four free fix-it stations in North Natomas.

If you want a paper map to carry when riding, you can pick up a copy at the North Natomas Jibe office (1918 Del Paso Road, Suite 100) or the North Natomas Public Library.

Bike Doc mechanics will set up on the shopping center stage, so bring your bike in for a quick tune-up or minor repair for free! You might even learn how to do it yourself next time. Special bonus: Don't miss the blender bike, which will be on hand making ice-cold lemonade treats.

Low Cost Helmet Sale and Bike Doc at North Natomas Library
May 16, 5 - 8p.m.

If you're in need of an affordable bike helmet, you'll want to head to Food Truck Mania at the North Natomas Library. We're selling bike helmets for only $5 and we'll make sure it fits. Bike Doc mechanics will also be on hand and don't forget about grabbing dinner at one of the food trucks.

"May the Fourth Be With You" Ride Recap

Wasting no time kicking off May is Bike Month, Jibe hosted the "May the Fourth Be With You" bike ride. (get it?) It was on May 4, of course. Riders jumped on their bikes and rode along a 23-mile route that started at the Jibe office. Some of the areas the group peddled through included Downtown Sacramento, Old Sac, Land Park, and Curtis Park where the cyclists stopped for a hearty breakfast.

Participants had a great time!

Gateway to Bike Paradise

Employees and customers at the Sacramento Gateway Shopping Center attended a pre May is Bike Month event. Jibe was set-up on April 27, greeting shopping center employees. Bike Doc mechanics did free bike repairs and tune-ups. During a break or lunch, workers were invited to not only get their bikes fixed but also test-ride a variety of unique wheels including recumbents, "boda boda," cargo bikes, and mountain bikes.

Later in the day, customers joined in taking advantage of Bike Doc services and pledging to log their bike trips and miles in May. It was a good opportunity to spread the word about May is Bike Month.

Earn-a-Bike Class of 2019

At Jibe, one of our key goals is to help people swap vehicle trips for bicycle trips. That's why we started the Earn-a-Bike program. It provides anyone 18 years and older who lives or works in North Natomas the opportunity to participate in a hands-on bicycle course taught by League of American Bicyclists certified instructors. Participants are also asked to complete a couple of follow-up surveys and to pledge to increase their trips made by bicycle. In return, they receive a $450 voucher towards a new bicycle they can use to get to work, take their kids to school, visit friends, run errands or just get wherever they need to go.

Jibe just graduated its latest class of 13 Earn-a-Bikers. During the 14-hour hands-on course, they learned basic mechanics, traffic and handling skills, types of bikes, trail riding, route planning, loading their bike onto the bus, and more.

Congratulations to the Earn-a-Bike Class of 2019!
