Time To Go Paperless At the end of 2019, Jibe Express will discontinue issuing paper tickets. While paper tickets will still be accepted on the bus, we encourage riders to use them as soon as possible and transition to a Connect Card. The Connect Card system provides many benefits to riders including easy, online transactions, a secured balance, and the ability for use on multiple systems. What riders need to know:

Winter is Coming Pull out those calendars, it's time for some holiday cheer and closures. During the holiday season Jibe Express and the Jibe office will have a few days with closures and no bus service. Be sure to mark these dates down so as not to be left out in the cold. We encourage everyone to ride with a friend or co-worker should you need to get downtown on a day without Jibe Express service. November

Bike Doc's Curtain Call Bike Doc's 2019 is one for the record books! This year, our mechanics serviced a total of 806 bicycles in North Natomas. That is the highest single season total since the program began in 2010. Let's take a deeper look at those numbers, shall we? During this season, Bike Doc fixed 436 brakes and 213 flat tires. The bikes brought to our events totaled 221 kid bikes and 585 adult bikes. We are very proud of this program and the service it provides to the community. On top of that, we are excited for the many North Natomas residents and employees that attend our events. With every brake adjusted, tire pumped, and bottom bracket fixed, there's another rider on our streets. Each rider makes our community more bike friendly. We look forward to fixing even more bikes in 2020! |

Walktober Win Another Walktober has wrapped and we are so excited for the results. This annual campaign encourages students (and sometimes their parents too) to leave the car at home and walk to and from school as much as they can throughout the month of October. To add an extra element of celebration, Jibe sponsors Walk to School parties at each of the eight participating schools with a DJ and breakfast to start one special day off on the right foot. During these morning celebrations, 23% of student enrollment walked (and danced) to school. For a little perspective, according Safe Routes to School, only 13% of students walk to school nationally. Walktober may be over but walking and biking to school is still the best option for students to get to school. An active commute allows kids to get their wiggles out and start the day ready to learn. Find your school and join the movement! |

Garden Highway Closure Extended Throughout this summer the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and its partners, have been working to improve the Natomas Basin levees. This important work has affected traffic in that area. The project has been extended beyond the initial October 31 completion date. Through mid-December, Garden Highway is completely closed to traffic between Northgate Boulevard to Natomas Park Drive. Drivers who typically use this route are being detoured to West El Camino Avenue. This closure is necessary to install a seepage cutoff wall down the center of the levee roadway to help reduce the risk of flooding for the Natomas Basin. Also, the #2 eastbound lane will remain closed underneath I-5 through December 2019. Crews here are conducting levee improvement work just off the roadway to the south of Garden Highway. The bike path along Garden Highway will remain open throughout these construction periods and associated closures. |
