Jibe and SacRT Issue Update on Precautions Against Coronavirus

Jibe and SacRT continue to closely monitor the coronavirus (also known as COVID-19). The immediate risk to the general public remains low, however it is imperative that we all do our part to slow the spread and reduce exposure to people at higher risk. SacRT is continuing to step up efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by taking the following preparedness actions:

  • Buses and light rail vehicles are sanitized every night
  • Trains and buses are fogged with chlorine dioxide to sanitize every five days
  • Hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and disposable gloves are provided to employees that come in contact with the public such as operators, transit ambassadors and customer service representatives
  • Riders can report any sanitation or cleaning issues directly to SacRT by using the free Alert SacRT app (iOS and Android). Riders can send a discreet text, photo or call about any concerns they encounter while out on the system

Riders are urged to take precautions to keep themselves and others healthy, which apply to the coronavirus, flu or common cold. Advice from the CDC includes:

  • Wash hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Stay away from work, school or other people if you have a fever, cough or shortness of breath
  • Cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
