Biking = Freedom

Preet Kaur, a 2020 Inderkum High School graduate, wasn't always into bikes or bicycle repair. Riding around at home in Punjab, India, was largely recreational for her - a fun way to spend time with friends. But when she moved to North Natomas in 2016, and started the Jibe-sponsored Bike Tech program as a high school senior, things changed.

Preet was interviewed by The Sacramento Bee last month. Check her out!

New Exhibit Now Unfurled!

Thirty student art submissions from five area schools have now been installed on fences on the following campuses: H. Allen Hight Elementary, Natomas Park Elementary, Paso Verde School, Star Academy, and Witter Ranch Elementary. Enjoy a beautiful autumn walk or bike ride to the unique and fun banners.

Here's Liam's untitled design. We title it great!

Breathe Deep and Pedal On

Team Good Jibes were proud to saddle up and ride a collective 153.2 miles in support of cleaner air this month when they participated in the Breathe Bike Trek 2020.

All donations to the Bike Trek are used to support the work that Breathe California Sacramento Region does to improve the lung health of the Sacramento community, with a particular focus on tobacco, air quality, and lung health.

Our kudos go to Team Good Jibes, all Trek participants, and Breathe ride organizers for championing this cause. Catch you next year, and in the meantime, let's all take a moment and make a clean air pledge!

Jibe Events at The Natomas Farmers Market: It's A Wrap!

Even though Bike Doc started late in the season due to COVID precautions, and had to cancel several events due to poor air quality, Bike Doc ended up fixing more than 600 bikes at the Farmers Market this year. Now that the Farmers Market is closed for the season, Bike Doc events are currently being scheduled around North Natomas, so be on the lookout for signups.

Jibe's $5 helmet sale was its most successful one-day sale to date. We are very pleased to have sold more than 200 certified adult and child-sized helmets in a 4-hour time period.

Jibe's events are always posted on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Follow @jibewithus on your favorite social platform to stay in the loop!

Howdy Partner

Jibe seeks community partners that we can work with in support of improved transportation options for North Natomans. Recent partnerships include neighborhood groups, restaurants participating in our popular Car Free Saturdays promotion, and businesses seeking to make Natomas an easier place to travel light and breezy.

Do you have an idea for a promotion or partnership? Maybe you want to host a Bike Doc event or improve your current work from home capability? Perhaps you are considering an electric vehicle charging station or a bike fix-it station at your store?

We can help you organize, can offer grants for innovative projects, and have fun swag to share! Contact us at info@jibe.org.

Green Means Go

New green bicycle lanes have been painted on East Commerce Way and Del Paso Boulevard in North Natomas. This feature enables bikes to better navigate a traffic conflict area. We hope this will increase the appetite for more bicycling improvements on our roadways!
