Let's Walk to School!

Now that school is officially back in session, parents and students who want to bypass traffic and have fun while doing it can participate in a Jibe-sponsored school program! Jibe is currently operating at each of the following local schools:

  • Heron School
  • H. Allen Hight Elementary
  • Natomas Park Elementary
  • NP3 Elementary
  • Paso Verde School
  • Regency Park Elementary
  • Star Academy (note: while we do have interest in a Jibe to School program at this location, we currently lack a Parent Champion to help us get the program off the ground. Interested? Details here.)
  • Westlake Charter School
  • Witter Ranch Elementary

Use our interactive map to find your school, connect with your Parent Champion, and determine arrival and departure times for our Walking School Bus and other fun programs we'll be launching this year!

Wisdom Travels On Display

Wisdom Travels, Jibe's collaborative effort between the City of Sacramento's Office of Arts and Culture and Janine Mapurunga, the Artist in Residence for District 1 is now on display at the North Natomas Library. The exhibit consists of images and narratives from the oral history project in which older adults from North Natomas shared stories about the impact walking, biking, and the use of public transportation made in their personal lives. The exhibit will remain on display throughout August and is available for viewing during the library's business hours - 10 AM - 6 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. Catch it while you can!

Act Now For Bike Doc!

As part of our longstanding goal to encourage biking among North Natomas residents, Jibe offers a free pop-up bike repair and tune up service. Bike Doc, a popular program held at locations around town (though mostly at the Farmers Market at North Natomas Regional Park) repairs bikes for free on an appointment-only basis.

As the summer draws to a close, only three scheduled Bike Doc events remain in 2021. Follow us on social media or sign up for an email alert to be notified when appointment links are posted to our website. It's a good idea to sign up quickly when you see signup sheets are available as these events fill up fast! If you've got a bike gathering dust in the garage, now is the time to book your appointment so you can get rolling!

Travel SmaRTer

Did you know SmaRT Ride, Sacramento Regional Transit's on-demand shuttle service covers most of North Natomas?

Within our zone, customers may request rides to or from points of interest such as shopping centers, the library, schools, University Technical Institute, and the North Natomas Regional Park, among many others.

SmaRT Ride offers corner-to-corner service. The service runs Monday through Friday, 7am to 7pm.

For current information on the North Natomas zone, check out our flier, map, or visit our website for details.

Youth and Students Ride Free

And speaking of SacRT, now that school is back in session, Regional Transit's RydeFreeRT program offers free transit for youth and students in grades TK through 12. With this program, youth ride the entire SacRT transit network, including SmaRT Ride, light rail, and SacRT buses at no cost! RydeFreeRT is available all day, any day of the week, all year during regular SacRT service hours.

Time to Engage

Caltrans District 3 needs to hear from us! They are developing a plan for the I-5 Corridor, evaluating existing transportation conditions and proposing measures to address congestion, safety, environment, and multimodal transportation (including walking, biking, and public transportation!) Your opinions and needs matter. Review the fact sheet, join the virtual open house, and/or weigh in on their short survey.

Input will be accepted until the end of August. Plug in here.
