Shuttle Changes Coming!

We are proud to officially announce that on March 1st, 2012 the NNTMA Flyer Shuttle will starts it’s enhanced service with our new vendor. This changing of the guard means many improvements for residents including more trips to and from downtown, larger vehicles, WiFi access, and a switch to cleaner Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). All of the current routes and fares will stay the same, but check our website for new times/schedules as you will soon have more options on when you catch a ride.

The Skinny on Bike Rebates

Had your eye on that shiny new cruiser or cushy gel seat but just can’t make the budget stretch that far? Here at the NNTMA, we want to help you get rolling and one way we do that is through our Bike Rebate program. If you are selected you may receive up to 40 percent off a new bike (up to $250), bike accessory (up to $50) or children’s bike (up to $100).

Applications are available on our website now and we will continue to accept them through April 15th. Yes, that’s tax day and yes, that’s two weeks shorter than last year so don’t put it off! The only catch is you must attend a Cycling Clinic if you are awarded a rebate. (See more info about the Cycling Clinic below.)

For additional information email Sarah!

Cycling Clinics

Cycling Clinics are a required step if you are a lucky rebate recipient, but they are open to the public too! The clinic will refresh you on the rules of the road and answer any questions you may have about negotiating traffic, right of way, etc.! You only have to attend one class and you are encouraged to bring a friend. Classes are held in the evenings from 6 to 7:30p.m at the North Natomas Library on March 15th, April 19th, and May 8th so pick a date and mark your calendar!

We Play Cupid for Commuters!

What spells amore better than cutting your gas spending in half during the week or playing passenger during rush hour? If you answer “nothing!” you’re not alone! Well, technically you are driving alone and that’s the problem, but we have the cure! It’s called “Ridematch” and it is good for your heart strings and your wallet.

Ridematch is a tool on our website that literally puts you on the map to find others going in the same direction to and from Natomas. The portal can also determine alternate routes that incorporate transit, cycling and walking.

Here is step-by-step instruction on how to get hooked up:

  1. Log into the Commuter Club from our home page.
  2. Check your profile at the top of the page and click “Include me in the Ridematch database tool.”
  3. Edit your “Ridematch Details:” work days, times, route, willingness to drive, etc.
  4. Make sure to save your changes! It’s the button at the end of your profile.

Now you can search the database yourself and see if you might be a match! Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Shuttle Takes a Day Off

Please set a reminder that on Monday, February 20th shuttle drivers salute President’s Day and the Natomas Flyer will not be operating. Please coordinate a carpool if you have to get downtown or better yet, check out our new “Ridematch” tool where we help you find the perfect commute mate.

Don’t Get Left Out in the Cold

Last call to exchange 2011 shuttle tickets for ones you can actually use! These tickets actually expired on December 31, 2011 but you can still trade them in for current tickets at our office – either via mail or in person – through the end of February. Come March, they will only be good as wobbly table stoppers or really tiny memo pads.
