Bike Doc Makes Last Rounds

The TMA’s Bike Doc, a whimsical workhorse on two wheels, will make two more appearances this summer: August 4th and September 15th at the North Natomas Library from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

You should stop by if your “steed” needs any basic repairs, flat fixes or diagnostics.

These events are totally free and almost always at full capacity so make sure to arrive early to reserve your time with a professional bike mechanic.

Keep in mind we can only accept one bike per attendee and we help folks on a first-come, first-served basis.

Got Your Front Row Seat to the Summer Games?

The torch is still burning for our Summer Games series, but you only have two weeks left to play! In this game, riders look for the password on the Flyer each week and email it to us here at the NNTMA for a chance at prizes.

Between now and Aug. 13th, two more weekly winners will receive a $25 gift card of their choice to Maestro Coffee, Barnes & Nobles, iTunes or Amazon.com. One lucky grand prize winner will receive dinner for 10 friends at BJ's Brewery (a $120 value).

Go here for the rules and details.

Ready for Take Off: Flyer Rewards!

Don’t like the hassle of airport security? You’re in luck because we are now serving up Frequent Flyer Rewards that don’t require shimmying out of your shoes while standing in lines!

Coming in September, the NNTMA will offer a different reward each month to Flyer riders.

To qualify and earn rewards you must 1. Ride the shuttle and 2. Send an email each month to Sarah Janus at sarah@nntma.org. Keep your eyes open for more to follow!

We Walk to School!

Do you have kids in grades K – 8th? If so, keep reading!

The NNTMA coordinates walking programs in partnership with nine local elementary and middle schools. These programs incentivize youngsters to walk, bike or scooter to school, and at the same time help to spare the air, decongest traffic and promote healthy habits.

Depending on their ages, participating kids earn charms and chances at prizes including grand prizes like skateboards, Nooks, iPods and more.

These programs start when school begins in the fall so go here for more information or contact us to learn more about how you can become a volunteer.

Shuttle Rider Survey

Get out your Number 2 pencils because it’s time to tell us how you feel and what you think about the Flyer Shuttle service. Surveys were distributed on the shuttles and are also available online on our website here. Whether you’re in love with the service or you have a bone to pick, we want to hear your thoughts! Please give us some feedback so we can work together to build a better service.

Fun Flyer Fact #107

Baggage. Everyone has it. But the trick in life – and on the Flyer – is to keep it from messing up someone else’s day. So, if you look over and find that your seat mate looks more like a handbag, tote or computer case, gently escort it onto the floor or onto your lap. Who knows, you might wind up with a real life commuting compadre!

BikeFit: Get Schooled While You Sweat

Do you like to ride your bicycle but need to get your confidence into gear before you become a road warrior? Well now you can do both. BikeFit is a new program from Breathe California designed to get people comfortable with cycling, improve their skills through hands-on riding and get a little exercise all at the same time.

Now, and over the next four weeks, you can choose Tuesday and/or Saturday sessions that will increase your skill level, your heart rate and your circle of friends. The program started in June but it’s not too late to sign up and meet fellow biking buddies.

The cost is $15 per session/ride or $160 for the full program. All riders are required to bring a helmet, sun glasses, gloves and a bike. Sorry, no exceptions.

You will also want to bring water and some snacks. For more information, visit www.sacbreathe.org or contact Alex at 916-444-5900 ext. 206, or atyannikov@sacbreathe.org.
