Tour De Sacramento via Neighborhood Rides

Looking for fellow cycling comrades? Fall is a gorgeous time to bike so join us on one of our free Neighborhood Rides, below, to see which one speaks to you! Rides depart from our office at 8:30 a.m. sharp so get there early. As always, don’t forget a helmet, water and an extra bike tube. No need to RSVP – just show up!

Around the Airport: 20 miles, September 8th. On this tour, we cruise around the airport, feel the rumbling of jets landing overhead and take in the beauty of the Sacramento River and Garden Highway views. Refreshments provided by NNTMA at the midway point located at the Boat Launch at Elkhorn Park.

William Land Park: 31 miles, October 13th. If you’re a park kind of person than this jaunt is for you. We will make our way south through Discovery and Miller Parks, then east to William Land Park. After a delicious stop at Marie’s Donuts we will swing by the Tile House – a mosaic-style tiled work of art. The journey home includes a pass by the Almond Factory, over the C Street Bridge and then home.

For more information about each ride, visit us online.

Curb Your Car in the Morning

Our walk to school programs are inspiring hundreds of families in the area to curb their enthusiasm for driving the kids to school each week. Start the morning with a commute that spares the air and gets those synapse ready for learning. Here’s how the program works:

  • Students at seven North Natomas schools walk, bike or scooter to school on a designated day. I.E. Two Feet Tuesdays.
  • Depending on their grade level, students who participate earn charms or chances to win a prize like an iPod or a bike!
  • If you live too far to walk, check out one of the “Walking School Buses,” organized in several schools. These are adult supervised groups that walk to school together.

For more info contact Mellissa Meng or visit the schools section of our website.

Who Needs Some Free Bike Love?

Our beloved Bike Doc is wrapping up for the year making just one more stop before it hibernates here at the NNTMA. Does your apartment complex need the Doc to make a house call next year? The answer is probably “yes” if you or any of your neighbors could benefit from professional bike mechanics fixing your velocipede at no charge! We would love to schedule a free event at your location so contact us now to get on the 2013 schedule.  Email Abbey!

Last 2012 Event: North Natomas Library, September 15th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
