Bike-in Movie Night!

Nothing spells a perfect summer night like post-sunset cruising or movies in the park after dark. Now, thanks to Vice Mayor Angelique Ashby's Natomas at Nite, the two warm weather pastimes have joined forces for Bike-in Movie Night! So grab your friends, family, blankets, and some snacks to unleash your inner super hero for a screening of The Avengers. SABA’s Bike Valet will be in full force and everyone who rides in on two wheels will receive a surprise. If you’re cycling at night, be sure to wear bright, reflective clothing and use proper front and rear lights on your bike. Hero cape is optional.

  • When: August 2nd
  • Time: Bike valet open at 7:30 p.m., show time is at 8p.m.
  • Where: North Natomas Community Park

Just bring your bike to one of the following events where professional mechanics and their trusty sidekick, Bike Doc, will get you on the road again… for free! Events are first-come, first-serve and one bike per person.

  • Tuesday, August 6th 5-8 p.m.— Witter Ranch Park Night Out

Fold, Snap and Win!

Our fun-sized, mini-Flyers have gone where no Flyer has gone before, including scenic drives on sandy beaches and the Eiffel Tower!  It’s all been part of our fun-sized, fold-up flyer picture contest where riders "drove” their mini-Flyer to cool and creative places, snapped a pic and posted it for a chance at prizes. Look for the mini-Flyer photo album on Facebook where you can vote on your favorite. The winner of the contest will receive a book of Flyer tickets and a $25 gift card for a total value of $40!

Camp and Roll… On the Red Carpet!

Get ready to feel like a million bucks even while pedaling your heart out on a three-day camp and cycle adventure on the Emigrant Trails Bike Trek in South Lake Tahoe’s Camp Richardson. On September 6th - 8th, bike trek participants will ride through stunning scenery and receive catered meals, on-road support teams and themed stops every 15-20 miles of the journey.

The NNTMA will be sponsoring a group again this year and will provide free jerseys (and a posse of new buddies) for everyone who signs up! The event raises money to fight against teen smoking, asthma and dirty air, and costs $35 and an additional $450 in fundraised amounts per person. Register online with our team here!

Safe Routes National Conference… You’re Invited to Apply

Attention North Natomas parents, teachers and student leaders! Safe Routes to School National Conference is coming to Sacramento August 13th – 15th and will feature nearly 200 speakers plus a mix of breakouts, workshops and tours.  Go here for the schedule. This event is a wellspring of opportunity to discover great work happening around the country and a chance to use that information to better your neighborhood.

To ensure our community benefits from this unique opportunity, the NNTMA will be sponsoring a total of 14 attendees (two representatives from seven North Natomas schools) to attend the event and share best practices and lessons learned. Please send questions or your request to Mellissa Meng by August 1st. Include a short explanation of why you want to attend; day or days you would participate; and the sessions in which you are interested.
