Spare the Air Season

Did you know that our Flyer Shuttle is free on Spare the Air days? Spare the Air days are announced the afternoon prior via SparetheAir.com and @ShuttleUpNNTMA when the AQI is projected to reach 127 and above.

Due to drought and record-breaking heat and wind, this season has been a challenging one in terms of the quality of water and air. Gain health-wise information about Sacramento’s environmental conditions by signing up for Spare the Air Alerts. Also, be sure to take a look at all the things you can do to help Spare the Air everyday.

Teens Opt for the “Auto Shop Alternative”

We are very proud to announce a ground-breaking addition to the curriculum taught at North Natomas’ Inderkum High School -- Bike Tech.

Similar to auto shop, Bike Tech is an elective course sponsored by the NNTMA that will teach high-schoolers the ins and outs of bike mechanics. By the end of the semester-long course, the kids will know how to disassemble, assemble, repair and troubleshoot multiple kinds of bicycles.

This summer kicks off the pilot course and if successful, the class will be offered in the fall of the 2014/2015 school year.

We’ll Keep You Up to Date on Traffic Impacts

Between the demolition of the K Street Mall and the construction of the Entertainment & Sports Center (replacing the mall), the downtown area will be in fluctuating states of construction, and therefore traffic.

It is our mission to stay informed of project and traffic updates, and share with our community how these could affect Flyer Shuttle routes. We will share news via our e-newsletters, NNTMA.org and @ShuttleUpNNTMA on Twitter. Please check in on these channels regularly, or when you have questions.

Riders are encouraged to take advantage of the RT Tracker system and sign up for text/e-mail alerts.

We Flexed our MIBM Muscles!

We came. We rode. We conquered. The numbers are in, and at a total of 1.9 million miles ridden in the Sacramento region, we were only a heartbeat away from meeting the 2 million mile goal for May is Bike Month this year.

Once again, North Natomas showed up for the challenge with bike bells on and made us proud of our community’s pedal power. For starters, our participating North Natomas schools totaled just a hair shy of 60,000 miles on the road and also landed in the top 5 for schools in the entire region. High five, indeed!

Here are some more North Natomas stats:

The Club at Natomas Park: 7,417 miles
Heritage Park: 908 miles
Department of Consumer Affairs: 1,797 miles
North Natomas employers: 6,199 miles

Visit MayisBikeMonth.com for full listing of top riders in the region.
