Be a Part of Something Bigger

On Monday, January 19th, 2015, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and National Day of Service, you have a chance to meet your neighbors and shape your world at 50 Bikes for 50 Kids 2015.  We hope you will answer the call to volunteer. We are now recruiting for the following volunteer roles:

Bike Builder:  Assists bike recipients with bike assembly, acts as a mentor and ensures safety at all times. Knowledge in bike mechanics is helpful but not necessary as we will train you!

Bike Mechanic:  Assists bike building teams throughout the assembly process. Knowledge in bike mechanics is necessary.

Registration & Finish Area Volunteer:  Directs bike recipients and bike builders before and after bike assembly. Includes distributing t-shirts, fitting helmets, taking pictures and more. Volunteers will be trained.

General Event Support:  Assists with set-up, clean-up and other varied tasks.

Skills Course Volunteer: Assists with outdoor skills course for bike recipients. Knowledge and comfort in bike riding is necessary.

To be someone’s hero as a volunteer or a sponsor, contact Abbey Harding at abbey@nntma.org, call 916-419-9955, or register online.

Former Bike Recipient Named 'Roll Model'

Bike recipients are nominated by local youth serving organizations based on their content of character. It's obvious that these kids are the best part of our future. Take Noah Crockette for example. In 2013, Noah was named a bike recipient for 50 Bikes for 50 Kids. In 2014, he was named a 'Roll Model' by MayisBikeMonth.com.

Read more about Noah as well as fellow 'Roll Model' David Baker, who has volunteered for the last two 50 Bikes for 50 Kids events.

Nominate a youth that inspires you.

Do you know a student that strives to be a good citizen above and beyond what is expected of them? Do you know a youngster that has taken on a responsibility beyond their years? What about a kid on your team that has shown leadership by emulating what it means to be respectful and fair?

We are seeking 50 well-deserving youth from North Natomas to assemble their very own new bicycle, with the assistance of teams of volunteers like you! Please take the time to nominate a youth who exemplifies one or more of the Content of Character Standards: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.

Nomination deadline is November 15th.

Please share this opportunity with fellow adult mentors, teachers, and role models you know. Nomination forms are available online.
