50 Bikes for 50 Kids Needs All Hands on Deck

On Monday, January 18th, 2016, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, you have a chance to meet your neighbors and shape your world at 50 Bikes for 50 Kids 2016.  We hope you will answer the call to volunteer. We are now recruiting for the following volunteer roles:

Bike Builder:  Assists bike recipients with bike assembly, acts as a mentor and ensures safety at all times. Knowledge in bike mechanics is helpful but not necessary as we will train you!

Bike Mechanic:  Assists bike building teams throughout the assembly process. Knowledge in bike mechanics is necessary.

Registration & Finish Area Volunteer:  Directs bike recipients and bike builders before and after bike assembly. Includes distributing t-shirts, fitting helmets, taking pictures and more. Volunteers will be trained.

General Event Support:  Assists with set-up, clean-up and other varied tasks.

Skills Course Volunteer: Assists with outdoor skills course for bike recipients. Knowledge and comfort in bike riding is necessary.

To be someone’s hero as a volunteer or a sponsor, contact Abbey Stumpf at abbey@nntma.org, call 916-419-9955, or register online.

Thank You to the Selection Committee

Adults from all around North Natomas heard the cry and answered with an astounding "YES! We do know inspiring youth!" We asked for nominations of local youth that inspire those around them. There are some amazing and powerful local kids who are truly making a difference in this community.

Last week, the Selection Committee sat down and read, re-read, and triple-read all of the nominations to select this year's 50 bike recipients. We are currently reaching out to the kids and their families to inform them of their selection. Stay tuned for the list to be announced in the near future.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone that nominated a youth for 50 Bikes for 50 Kids. Big thanks also to Danielle Marshall and Beth Mahony, who donated their time to review and select this year's crop of bike recipients.
